Kindness Lives On.

Continuing Alex's legacy by meeting practical needs, bringing hope to families, and inspiring our community to love others well.

The Heart Behind Our Mission

One person's kindness can change countless lives.

Something For Alex was created to honor the life of Alex—a young man whose compassion, generosity, and genuine love for people left a lasting impact on everyone he met.

Today, we continue his legacy by serving our community through food assistance, emergency support, volunteer opportunities, and acts of kindness that remind people they are never alone.

Every meal served.

  • “Maybe our purpose in this life isn’t something loud or complicated. Maybe it’s simply to live with kindness, to stay grateful and to notice the small beautiful things along the way.” Something 4Alex and the Newton family show that kindness gives blessings over and over, helping so many in quiet ways. I love supporting them and being a small part of that"

    —Anne Kelly

  • “No better way to honor Alex and to enjoy a beautiful fall morning than a 5K run, jog or walk through the fields, streams and woods that were such an important part of Alex’s life. it was a great event last year and will only be better this year.”

    —Doug P.

  • "I am so thankful to Something4Alex organization for giving me the confidence and opportunities to help others in my community and the Thomson and CSRA community. I have not been physically able to volunteer at the major events, but I have contributed to my favorite events each year. I personally love the Give a Fan event and the Coat Drive every year. No one should be cold or hot and it was part of how this all began when Alex gave his shirt to a new friend in New Orleans on that trip years ago. I also do this in my own community. S4A has given me the opportunities to give away coats and fans as well as to pay for the person behind me at drive- through restaurants. It’s so fun!!! I am truly thankful to this organization for making acts of kindness cool."

  • "At the time you first started talking to me about helping with the Blessing Box in Dearing, it was just an answered prayer! It gave me something for me to feel useful, and a beautiful way for me to help others. I had been through so much negativity, jealousy and ugliness by people, I didn’t even know. I was hurt and angry and felt very much an outsider in this community. My Mama used to say “it is always darkest just before the dawn” and I felt that. You were a ray of sunshine and goodness and thank you for allowing me to be a part of your ministry and honoring your son’s memory❤️"

    -Olly Axon

  • "Something for Alex is a non profit organization that was started by the Newton family to honor their son Alex who had a heart of gold and literally gave the shirt off his back to someone he barely knew They started this to bless others with many acts of kindness through giving back to their community and surrounding communities It has been an honor and privilege to be able to donate and give to make this dream come true Alex’s unselfish love and kindness for others is truly displayed in this organization My prayer is that these acts of kindness will continue to bless and help others in need."

    -Cindy Bartosh

  • "The Newton Family took a tragedy and has turned in to an amazing organization that serves their community and surrounding areas in so many ways. I have helped them with some of their activities and am so blessed to see how they have blessed so many people. Alex was a wonderful young man with a giving heart and they continue to honor him in so many ways. If you have the opportunity to participate, do so. It will help them continue their amazing ministry."
