Meet Matt and Ashleigh and the first Something For Alex event...

In planning their wedding, Matt and Ashleigh decided to do something to honor Alex and his act of kindness shown to Matt in 2012 after learning of Alex's murder. They posted on their wedding web page and also on their invitations about the Something for Alex donations. They were so excited for the wedding but also for doing this in Alex's honor and memory that would impact others "more than just one day."

They collected 181 pieces of clothing including coats, hats, gloves and scarves. Many items were homemade and some guests that could not attend the wedding wanted to help and sent clothing to donate in Alex's memory.

They donated the clothing to South High School that is located in Denver, Colorado to a program run by parent volunteers that assist students in need. The parent volunteers were so excited to see that the items were mostly new so they decided to make gift bags to be given out this past Christmas for as many families as they could help. They were able to make these families very happy since these families were in much need of warm clothing for the cold winter.

"This Christmas, Alex will bring joy and warmth to 181 very grateful people."

"All Ash and I did was drop the clothes off - we're a middleman. This is something from Alex, it's something Alex did."

"Luke 10: 25- 37:  Like the injured man the Samaritan helped, we are all deserving of compassion and a simple act of kindness towards another is what Christ guides us towards time and again." -words from the letter Matt wrote to Alex's mom-
