Alex's Birthday Drive - The Blessing Box
Something for Alex, LLC is thrilled to announce the launch of our “Blessing Box.” Trey Newton has constructed a permanent structure, pictured below, that will be adjacent to the FLC parking lot @ Thomson First Methodist Church, and we need your help to stock it.
This blessing box will serve the entire community, guided by the motto: "Take what you need and leave what you can." We are honored to open this blessing box and provide our community with accessible food at any time.

We were excited to start off 2024 with sharing Alex’s story with 20 Juniors from our area that are involved in Youth Leadership McDuffie.
We spoke to them about how giving back to the community through acts of kindness can help so many and impact our area so positively while being blessed themselves.

Something for Alex announced their “Something for” Series.
Kicked off in partnership with Edmund Burke Academy, the Fellowship of Christian Students collected over 200 coats in just 1 week.

2nd Annual 5K Trail Run/Walk and Kid’s 1M Fun Run

Beth spoke to the Speech Class at Greenbriar High School in Martinez, GA ( students in 9th - 12th grades).

Beth spoke at the Men’s Fellowship Group at Lincolnton First Methodist Church in Lincolnton, GA.

Alex’s Birthday Project - Beth and Taylor visited our local Laundromat where 25 bags filled with laundry detergent, dryer sheets and a gift card for the washers and dryers. Cupcakes and drinks were shared with the patrons as they washed their clothes.

Beth spoke at the Thomson First United Methodist Church Early Childhood Academy children about how “Kindness Rocks” showing them a painted rock that was left in her yard during Covid. She also talked about Alex’s story of kindness. She presented in each class with a box of paint and rocks s o that each child could make their own kindness rock. This was a kick off for their fundraiser - Lemonade for Alex to raise money for S4A to help fund Alex’s Birthday Project later in July.

We concluded our 5th annual “Become a Fan” Drive. We collected 397 fans total this year, our highest year yet.

We had the privilege of dropping off toys at the McDuffie Co DFACs office. These toys were donated in honor of Danny Pilgrim. In lieu of flowers, his sister, Marsha Smith, collected toys after his passing.

ANOTHER SCHOLARSHIP GIVEN - Congrats William Burnley, on winning the “Jonathan Alexander Newton Scholarship”

We collected and donated 65 Easter Baskets to McDuffie Manna and “The Under the Bridge Ministry”

Beth was the guest speaker at the Alpha Delta Kappa District meeting. Members of the ADK donated items for S4A Easter Basket Project at this event.

Beth made 50 Kindness Kits with the Wrens Elementary Jr. Beta Club which were given to the Bridge Ministries of CSRA for the homeless and needy they serve at their Saturday services.

Beth shared our story with the FCA at Briarwood Academy. These wonderful teens built and donated 10 Easter Baskets for our Easter Basket Drive.

Beth and the Sigma Chapter of ADK built and donated 40 patient kits to the Thomson branch of Piedmont Hospital.

Our 3rd Annual Pheasant Hunt took place at White Creek Cattle Ranch.

Dr. Beth Newton won the 2023 JEFFERSON AWARD. We will be off to NYC in early October to share our story, make new connections and learn from the best.

Beth spoke to the Wrens Elementary 4th and 5th grade Beta Club. This was the first of our new talk “Don’t Lose Heart” which is all about being kind. We were then invited back so these kids could help build kindness kits.

Beth spoke to the Senior Adult Ministry at Tignall Baptist, where they donated over 150 winter items. These were taken to shelters and homes around the state.

Beth spoke to the Harlem Middle School Jr. Beta Club - these amazing kids donated and built 40 kindness kits.

FINALLY! Our first annual Something for Alex 5k Trail Run and 1 mile Fun Run took place - to see photos and winners, head to our 5k page!

Beth spoke with the 2nd and 3rd graders from M.E. Freeman Elementary School in Warrenton, Ga. for their Fall Farm Fun Day to share about Alex and challenge them to be a part of “Operation Kindness”.

Due to a storm, our FIRST ANNUAL S4A 5k and 1 mile fun run were postponed. (Of course the weather turned out to be perfect)

The FIRST ANNUAL Something for Alex 5k for Scholarships raffle began. Valued at over 575$, tickets were 1$ a pop.

Beth spoke at the Thomson FUMC Sunshine Club.

Alex’s Birthday Toy Drive - S4A matched $500 worth of toys. We donated these toys in honor of Ben Brunner, Alex’s cousin.

Lemonade for Alex was created by the TFUMC ECA (Early Childhood Academy) Every Friday these kids sold lemonade to raise money for the Children's Hospital. Beth shared the story of the Good Samaritan with the children of ECA before they opened!

The ladies bible study group at TFUMC donated, built and delivered 40 Easter baskets to the Under the Bridge Ministry.

Beth shared our story at the Youth Leadership Group of McDuffie County.

S4A announced the ICARE art supply fundraiser, where we collected and donated a trunk load of art and kitchen supplies to the ICare organization that cares for victims of sex trafficking.

S4A kicked off our daily tab collection. S4A has donated thousands of tabs to the Ronald McDonald House.

Beth spoke to the John Franklin Wren Chapter of the NSDAR organiztion and was blessed with a monetary donation to help with the art supply drive for ICare.

Beth shared Alex’s story of kindness with the Grace Place Sunday School class at Kiokee Baptist.

Beth and Joe passed out Kindness Kits to the homeless for Valentine’s Day to share some love and kindness.

S4A delivered blankets and shawls to the Bridge Ministries of the CSRA to give to the homeless and needy that they serve. Thank you Prayer Shawl Ministry of the Thomson FUMC for your donation.

Beth spoke at the First Assembly Church Women’s Ministry and the ladies collected and donated 80+ kindness kits.

S4A donated 20+ pairs of shoes to the Lincoln County elementary school.

The first of many “Warm Up for Winter” deliveries - S4A delivered a huge haul of winter coats, hats and gloves to the Clothing Closet Ministries in Warrenton, Lincolnton Elementary and McDuffie Manna.

Beth spoke to the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in Washington, Ga sharing information about Alex and his story of kindness and about our foundation. The ladies donated winter coats, hats, etc for our Winter Coat Drive.

Beth and Bubba spoke at the Pi Kapp Golf Tournament. Golfers donated business clothing that was then taken to shelters where men get help finding jobs.

Alex's 34th birthday drive - Taylor, Trey and Beth made and delivered over 90 lunches and kindness kits to those in needs in and around Atlanta.

Quarantunes!! Beth, Taylor & our friend Wesley Walker did a 3-hour livestream, including live music, painting, interviewing Tony Award Winners and even toy building - we raised $5600 for Augusta Players and the CSRA COVID-19 Fund

Our impromptu COVID rent/grocery program - we were able to pay bills, and purchase groceries for those affected by COVID

S4A participated in Augusta Technical College Health Fair at all campuses - Thomson, Grovetown, Waynesboro and discussed S4A foundation and also Donate Life Information.

S4A held the "4-H and FFA Ag Day" at our ranch, White Creek Cattle - we donated school supplies to all the students that attended, and Bubba shared a ton of cattle stories.

S4A sponsored a movie/medical night for the military personnel with "East Central GA Medical Innovative Readiness Training Program: - we donated snacks and drinks for the movie night, as well as 30 first aid kits and 20 kindness kits for the staff to hand out at their clinic

Beth read the letter to the entire Newton family and BAM - Something for Alex was started. She passed out bands to the extended family and she took off running, full steam ahead.
